Scientology claims to have all the answers. It entices people in with a hopeful message.


People take the tests. The tests ask personal questions and discover insecurities in the person. They promise answers and a path to fixing these emotional scars.

In 1938, a science fiction writer from Nebraska, USA named L. Ron Hubbard claims to have had a near-death experience. He was getting some dental surgery and had been administered painkilling drugs. It was then that L. Ron had a vision. He said he was dead for 8 minutes and was given the secrets of the universe.

The Guinness world record for most published works by one author is 1,084 by L. Ron Hubbard whose first work was published in February 1934 and the last in March 2006.


In 1950 he wrote the book "Dianetics: the modern science of mental health." The book is supposed to help you clear past traumas. The book is promoted as "a milestone for Man comparable to his discovery of fire and superior to his inventions of the wheel and the arch."

L Ron Hubbard also introduced something called an e-Meter which they use to spend hours talking about their feelings and memories.

Scientologists believe in a mysterious supreme being and that souls are immoral. They refer to souls as thatens. The goal is to reach the highest maturity of the soul, finding inner peace, known as operating thaten. There are 8 levels.



The religion got more and more popular. The church began charging money for these therapy sessions. Hubbard became a wealthy man.

The lessons and therapy cost so much money that only the wealthy can hope to reach operating thaten level 8.

Famous scientologists include Elvis Presley's ex-wife and his daughter. Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidmam and John Travolta and Leah Remini.

Every level you "unlock" is called "clearing" in which you've dealt with past trauma and are stronger and more mature for it. Every level you go up, you unlock more information about the truth L. Ron Hubbard discovered.
